I have to send out props to JK for playing three GREAT shows here in Denver this weekend.

Friday he played at Quioxte's in a pay show that rocked nicely. The bar also paid for John to play two free shows on Saturday and Sunday evening in the City Cent Park's Greek Theater.

The music started at 12pm each day with a nice variety of bands covering everything from blue grass to the Allman Brothers.

I have always appreciated Johns quality coverage of Jerry's licks but thought he was trapped by the expectations and the legacy from the man himself.

It also seems to me that with Furthur, we have a lead bass player, the lead guitar is secondary, just check out the shows from Terrapin Crossroads and see who is the lead in the mix. Of coarse I am not complaining , Phil has carried the muse since Jerry split. And god knows I will miss the bombs when they fade away.

But at these shows in Denver, JK played with greater confidence and freedom then I'd ever heard him play before. He covered a few GD & JG songs wonderfully but I also dug the shit out of his own material and the other covers her brought to the stage.

I may have been a little biased having gotten the chance to rap with him for about 15 minutes when I saw him wandering the scene. Turns out we have similar interest and lived close in the Cincy area. I also got to stand right in front of him for the whole Sunday show, with the THUNDER AND LIGHTNING crashing all around.

I highly recommend you go enjoy the John K Band if you get the chance. He said they mainly gig in the Dc/Baltimore area during breaks but Jan from Quiote's has had them here twice in the past year. It was like having them in my backyard, what a blessing! There was gent standing next to me who was broadcasting the shows live on Ustream. If you couldn't make the show they were available in your living room. Which leads to my next point!

I also HIGHLY recommend you find yourself a new smart TV, I broke down when they dropped the price 70% on the Samsung ES series in March. The unbelievable amount of awesome music out there on YouTube and other sites will blow you mind. I also watched Bobby's TriStudio broadcast live like I was there from Phil's place. Although having the Boys playing on my 55 inch TV played thru high fidelity sound is keeping from digging to hard to find another shitty job I hate thinking of finding-lol

God Bless the good ole GD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
